Flames on Flynn Creek Road

We drove out Orr Springs Road to Comptche today, stopping to check on our friend's home at the "top" of the mountain. Her house is fine, and much to our surprise we did NOT find any flames or burned areas along Orr Springs Road. The clothing-optional resort and Montgomery Woods State Park are both fine, also. Amazing! Rumors have been flying and are so.... well.... so WRONG! This picture was taken along Flynn Creek Road between Comptche and Booneville. The fires are low and slow burning... thus the incredible amount of smoke blowing into the Ukiah valley! UGH! It is getting old already, and they say it may be several weeks before the air improves.

The Rock at Lake Alpine

This is the rock that we tried and tried to push into the lake back into the sixties... still there after all this time.

Lake Alpine

Jeff is looking out at Lake Alpine from our campsite near where the cabins used to be. We had a great couple of days there, and took a zillion pictures. The first night we were so cold... didn't know how to turn on the heater. Duh... flip the switch and set the temperature on the thermostat! Some nice people taught us the next day. The drive over Ebbit's Pass went well, and we made it to Independence easily. FUN!

Strawberry-Banana Pie

Last Saturday Red and Carolyn were coming over for dinner, so I decided to make this pie... it was amazing! Gordie, Janice, Mindy, and new-boyfriend Chuck also came. We had a great time, and the pie tasted very good. FUN!

Oops...

Wow... talk about having a load of asphalt dumped at the wrong spot! Luckily no one was hurt... but what a mess!
